Professional Experience
Bárbara is a Founding Partner of Paxlegal and leads the Immigration & Nationality practice, being recognised for advising international clients on mobility, investment and relocation projects in Portugal. Throughout her career, she has been involved in structuring complex relocation and foreign investment operations, working at the intersection of legal frameworks, wealth decisions and international lifestyle strategies.
Her practice spans Global Mobility, Private Clients and international investment, with a focus on the design and implementation of residence and nationality structures, real estate acquisitions and integration into business environments. She works with clients operating across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring alignment between their personal, family and business dimensions, as well as the effective execution of decisions with tangible impact.
She acts as Portugal Advisor to Davies & Associates, a U.S. law firm specialised in immigration.
Prior to founding Paxlegal, she was a partner at PMCM Advogados, where she led the Immigration practice. She previously served as Advisor to the Secretary of State assisting the Minister of Justice, and as a legal advisor at the Inspectorate-General for Cultural Activities of the Ministry of Culture.
She holds a law degree from Universidade Lusíada and a postgraduate qualification in Taxation from Instituto Superior de Gestão. She further expanded her academic background through executive education in leadership and management at INSEAD, and Legal Tech Management and Innovation Strategy at NOVA FCT. She has also completed postgraduate programmes in Copyright, Administrative Litigation and E-Commerce at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.
She is a guest speaker in the postgraduate programme in Immigration and Nationality Law at NOVA School of Law Executive Education.
She is the author of several opinion articles published in the national press and was a regular contributor to Revista Executiva.
She is fluent in Portuguese, French and English.
